Simon Bize et Fils Savigny-les-Beaune rouge Aux Grands Liards Bourgogne 2019
The soils of the Aux Grands Liards plot are very calcareous, which contributes to the cool elegance of this wine. The Domaine Simon Bize can fall back on very old Pinot Noir vines, the oldest already over 80 years old. Ripe red berries and some orange peel on the nose. Lots of ripe fruit on the taste, some spice and cool minerality. The wine has great maturing potential.
Domaine Simon Bize in Savigny-lès-Beaune has been making great, but still affordable Burgundy wines for many years. The high reputation of the estate is based on the pioneering work of Patrick Bize, who put the family winery on the list of the best producers of the Côte de Beaune. After Patrick's death, his wife Chisa continues to run the winery just as ambitiously and with the same love for detail. It' very difficult to find better wines for a similar price in the heartland of Burgundy.
