Cooking School and Cooking Classes

Weekday courses start at 7 PM, Saturday courses start at 6 PM, and morning courses start at 12 PM. Each course is supervised by one or two assistants. We start with a welcome drink of choice, and during the course, we serve water. The menu is cooked together in small groups. The chef ensures that everyone can follow along. In some courses, especially those with more complicated menus, the chef prepares some things in advance (e.g., peeling onions) to ensure everything runs smoothly. In most courses, everything is cooked from scratch. Afterward, everyone sits down in our dining room to enjoy the meal.

We reserve the right to change menu ingredients based on availability. Changes to entire dishes only occur in acts of God, and in such cases, no course fee refund is possible.

You receive a 10% discount on all discounted items from one hour before and during the course. Gift Vouchers cannot be redeemed after 8 PM and new ones cannot be issued. We provide all ingredients, utensils, and aprons for the evening. Our cooking school is air-conditioned. If there is leftover food, you can ‘purchase’ a Rebowl for a €5 deposit to take leftovers home.

Each course is unique. No course should last longer than 5 hours, including the meal.

Cooking Classes: Usually, the course lasts about 3 to 4 hours (no guarantee).

Baking Classes: Dough needs time, generally, the courses last about 3 to 4 hours (no guarantee).

Wine and beverage classes: Generally, the courses last about 2 to 3 hours (no guarantee).

Regular classes can have up to 16 participants. For private groups, we can organise cooking classes for fewer and significantly more participants.

Even in winter, you can get a sunburn. Surprisingly, you can get hungry in a cooking class. We recommend eating something (not much, but something) before the class. It can take 1-2 hours before food is served. Sometimes it goes quicker. Sometimes it does not. For wine classes, you should definitely not come hungry. Usually, there is bread and cheese, but nothing substantial.

If there is leftover food, you can ‘purchase’ a Rebowl for a 5€ deposit to take leftovers home.

We publish four class schedules per year:

1. Quarter (Jan-Mar), published between November 20th and 30th

2. Quarter (Apr-Jun), published between February 20th and 28th

3. Quarter (Jul-Sep), published between May 20th and 31st

4. Quarter (Oct-Dec), published between August 20th and 31st

Unfortunately, we cannot say in advance whether a certain course will be offered in the next quarter or not. This is always decided at the planning stage and can change at short notice before the launch.

Our tip: Follow us on Instagram or subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know when the program goes online. Sign up here!

All things cooking class related run through the Goldhahn und Sampson office. We provide Monday to Friday, 12pm til 4pm customer service through our website.

This means that if you have any questions, our colleagues in the store and at the counter do not have access to class information and cannot help with your enquiry.

In general we have on rule: we do not reserve places in our cooking classes. Our Motto is: first come, first serve

Rescheduling is not possible as it involves a temporary reservation, which we do not do. Rescheduling means the class must be cancelled and a new class booked. Please note the cancellation policies.

You can pay for cooking classes with vouchers. Simply scroll down the shopping cart and add your voucher code  - before you click "checkout".

We only accept cancellations via email at hallo@goldhahnundsampson.de. The date of receipt of your binding cancellation is decisive.

Up to and including 15 days (not 14!) before the cooking class, you can cancel with full credit of the class fee. Refunds are usually issued in the form of a voucher code via email. Refund of money is possible on request and costs a €5 processing fee. This fee is waived if you already have to pay a cancellation fee.

From 14 days before the class, you will receive 70% of the original purchase price back for cancellations.

From 7 days before the class, we refund 50% of the purchase price.

From 2 days before the class, no cancellation is possible. Tickets expire if not used. No exceptions.

You can give away or sell the tickets. The tickets are transferable, but name changes are not possible. You do not need to inform us in advance. The lucky recipient mentions the name of the originally booked participant at check-in and indicates that they are participating in their place.

If the minimum number of 8 participants is not reached, we can cancel the class up to five calendar days before the start. In this case, the fee of the class will be refunded.

In very rare cases, we may have to cancel classes due to a teacher's illness, but we usually find a replacement.

Yes. The tickets are transferable to other people. You do not need to inform us. Name changes are not possible. The recipient mentions the name of the originally booked participant at check-in and indicates that they are participating in their place.

The names of participants cannot be changed after booking; they serve as our "ticket number." However, the tickets are transferable without any problems. You do not need to inform us. Just mention at check-in that you are taking the place of xyz.

If you do not know the name of a participant when booking, it is best to write "companion of xyz." This will also appear in our reservation book. Whoever presents this ticket at check-in or says "I am the companion of xyz" is welcome to participate!

People with severe food intolerances should not attend our cooking classes.

Children aged 11 and older may take part in events and cooking classes if accompanied by an adult. Full tickets must be purchased for both child and adult.

It is not possible to bring visitors to the course. Babies in strollers may be brought to the course, but as soon as the toddler can walk, it may no longer be brought. It is a source of danger and may distract other participants. This does not apply for the family dog, all animals in general are not allowed to join.

Please be considerate of other participants and our team, who may not want to be photographed.

Large groups dominate the classes, and we want every participant to be the centre of attention. Anything over 6 people is considered a "larger group." This includes friends, relatives, and even people who may not yet know each other, such as the annual meeting of anonymous tin figure collectors from Bergisch Gladbach.

We offer tailored classes for groups. Inquiries should be sent to hallo@goldhahnundsampson.de.

We are happy to host your family celebration, birthday party, or corporate event. We can turn our dining room into a meeting room and set up a projector. The meeting can transition into a cooking class or end with an aperitif. Almost anything is possible. Inquiries should be sent to hallo@goldhahnundsampson.de

The Wishlist is often confused with the Waitlist. In the Wishlist category, you can join the list of interested parties for our standard class topics for upcoming dates. You will receive an automatic notification when the desired class is repeated. Some classes are repeated regularly, others only if there is enough interest.

The Waitlist is often confused with the Wishlist. The Waitlist means: You will receive an email if a spot becomes available for the specific date you selected. All those on the waitlist are notified simultaneously: first come, first served.
