Noval Extra Dry White Port Douro
For purists, white port doesn't count for real port, but for Noval's Extra Dry White Port you should consider to make an exception. Drier than most, this white port is perfect as an aperitif and makes a wonderful base for port tonic. The base wines have matured for an average of two years, mostly matured in large wooden barrels. Green apple, grapefruit, lemon peel. Juicy, balanced and almost dry in taste. Very nice with salted almonds.
Quinta do Noval is one of the most renowned port wine makers and has a long history. The first mention of Noval wines dates back to 1715! In the middle of the Douro Valley with its magnificent terraced steep slopes, Quinta do Noval produces outstanding port wine of all quality levels. Not only are the grapes harvested in the Douro Valley, but also the wines are processed and stored there - which is rarely done as usually the grapes are transported to the warehouses in Vila Nova de Gaia near the Atlantic estuary. A special treat for special days!
