Seehof Auxerrois Westhofener is made from the far too rarely grown Auxerrois grape. Originated in Burgundy, you can rarely find the grape there anymore. A little more widespread in Alsace, Auxerrois grapes are also cultivated in a very small area in the southwest of Germany. A real pity, if you think about Seehof's Auxerrois and its great taste. Developed dry, with lush fruitiness, full-body, dense texture, and moderate acidity. But there is also a touch of mineral, as this is still a Westhofener wine. The fruit is almost tropical, ripe melon, pineapple, apricot, mirabelle, the nice cool mouthfeel of the minerality, and thanks to partial aging in large wooden barrels, a little creaminess. Excitingly different and very versatile as a food companion, this wine is a recommendation.

The Seehof winery in the famous Rhine-Hessian wine town of Westhofen is run by the Fauth family in the fifth generation. Fauth's son Florian is responsible for the winemaking and the style of the wines and father Ernst takes care of the care of the vineyards. Over a thousand years old, the Seehof itself is a small piece of cultural history. Fauth relies on fully ripe grapes, a strict selection, a lot of manual work, and a clear elaboration of the profile of the Westhofen locations such as Morstein and Kirchspiel. Of course, it's all about the terroir hero Riesling, but the Fauths also score highly with grape varieties like Scheurebe or Auxerrois, and with wines like the incredible Pinot Noir Rosé, which sells out quickly for this reason. We've been working with Florian's wines for a long time and can say with great certainty: They have always been good ambassadors for their Westhofen terroir, but are still getting better and better and are now clearly at the top of the region.
