2019 Ebner-Ebenauer Weißer Burgunder Alte Reben Weinviertel
The Weißer Burgunder from Ebner-Ebenauer comes from vines that are around 50 years old from a very lime and loess-rich location. It is slightly creamy, has a full texture and is very balanced. The fruit is rather subtle, some pear and pineapple. In addition, there is clearly hazelnut and, due to the long maturation on the yeast storage, also some brioche. All of this without appearing heavy and sluggish. A small masterpiece and also a very versatile food companion.
Marion and Manfred Ebner-Ebenauer make wonderfully fresh and extremely elegant wines in the northern Weinviertel. Of course, they produce a whole range of typical and terroir-shaped Grüner Veltliners, but they also have a good knack for the Burgundy varieties and produce some of the finest Pinot Blanc and Chardonnays in Austria year after year. They are famous for their hand-shaken sparkling wines. That is hardly surprising, after all, they come from Poysdorf, the sparkling wine capital of Austria.
