Seehof Riesling trocken Rheinhessen 2024
The Riesling trocken from the Seehof winery has an incredible amount of character for an estate wine. Florian Fauth also brings a lot of quality into the bottle when it comes to basic wines. You can clearly taste the Westhofen origin, a lot of herbs, and a spicy minerality. All, of course, in combination with a fully matured fruitiness and the well-integrated acidity. Apricot, mirabelle, herbs, some pepper, and loads of minerality. Rather tart and noticeably dry. Great with tarte flambée or crustaceans. An estate wine for advanced Riesling lovers and curious newbies.
The Seehof winery in the famous Rhine-Hessian wine town of Westhofen is run by the Fauth family in the fifth generation. Fauth's son Florian is responsible for the winemaking and the style of the wines and father Ernst takes care of the care of the vineyards. Over a thousand years old, the Seehof itself is a small piece of cultural history. Fauth relies on fully ripe grapes, a strict selection, a lot of manual work, and a clear elaboration of the profile of the Westhofen locations such as Morstein and Kirchspiel. Of course, it's all about the terroir hero Riesling, but the Fauths also score highly with grape varieties like Scheurebe or Auxerrois, and with wines like the incredible Pinot Noir Rosé, which sells out quickly for this reason. We've been working with Florian's wines for a long time and can say with great certainty: They have always been good ambassadors for their Westhofen terroir, but are still getting better and better and are now clearly at the top of the region.
