Taste of Puglia: Taralli
Baking class with Italian aperitivo
with Maria Angilecchia
Taralli are one of the most iconic baked goods from Southern Italy. Made with just a few simple ingredients — flour, white wine, olive oil and salt — they are transformed through time, gesture and repetition into something deeply rooted in everyday culture.
In this workshop, we will prepare traditional Apulian taralli by hand and follow each step of the process: kneading, shaping, briefly boiling, and baking. Each stage plays a role in creating their distinctive texture and flavour.
The workshop is designed as a slow, shared experience — less about precision or perfection, and more about rhythm, attention, and conviviality. No previous baking experience is needed, only curiosity, patience, and a willingness to slow down for a few hours.
Menu:
- Traditional Apulian Taralli
- Fennel Seed Taralli
- Cheese, salami, seasonal aperitivo snacks
- Wine / aperitivo

Maria Angilecchia
Maria was born and raised in Puglia, Southern Italy, where food and hospitality have always been an essential part of everyday life. Many of the recipes she works with today come from her mother and grandmother, from afternoons spent in family kitchens and from the quiet repetition of gestures passed down over generations.
After moving to Berlin and working professionally as an architect, Maria began reflecting on the role that cooking and manual preparation can play in creating moments of presence and connection, especially within fast-paced urban life. She is interested in creating spaces where people can slow down, work with their hands and reconnect through shared rituals around food.
