Hofmann Grauer Burgunder trocken Rheinhessen 2022
This is a particularly beautiful Pinot Gris from Jürgen Hofmann. Medium-bodied, with pleasant fruitiness, ripe acidity and a bit of melt. Pear, gallia melon, yellow apple, fresh herbs and a little hazelnut characterise this very round, well balanced and very versatile wine. Especially uncomplicated, just on a very high level.
Carolin and Jürgen Hofmann run the two wineries of their families together. The Willems-Willems winery from Konz an der Saar, as well as the Hofmann winery from Appenheim in the Rhine-Hesse region. Typical for Saar, Willems-Willems stands for acid-fresh, mineral Riesling, whereas Hofmann from northern Rheinhessen is more famous for Burgundy varieties and Sauvignon Blanc, although you should not forget about the Riesling, which is quite charming, too. Both wineries are known for there great 'Lagenweine', made of hand-picked grapes that grow in the best locations, as well as very good terroir-related 'Gutweine'. And year after year, they know to impress with the really outstanding quality of their entry-level wines. The varietal estate wines are self-explanatory, confidently vinified, and always at a high level.
