Marco e Vittorio Adriano Barbaresco DOCG Sanadaive Piemont 2020
In Piedmontese dialect, "Sanadaive" is the name of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, the home of the Adriano family. And the Barbaresco DOCG Sanadaive captures the taste of this land. A spicy nose with cinnamon and cloves, accompanied by cherry, some rose and tobacco. Already very accessible, perfumed and elegant. The Sanadaive is 100% Nebbiolo and a cuvée of two vineyards around the estate. The vines are on average 30 years old and are planted on sandy clay marl soils. After the harvest, the wine ferments in stainless steel and then spends a year in large wooden barrels made of Slovenian oak. A great introduction to the world of Nebbiolo at a fair price!
Sometimes all you want is a really good glass of wine. Then the Adrianos are just the right place for you. Brothers Marco and Vittorio Adriano run a classic Piedmontese family business, where everyone, from grandfather Aldo to daughter Michela, is involved in the winemaking. During a visit, you will immediately notice how satisfied they are to be able to work together as a family. The estate is located in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, just outside the truffle capital Alba. In 1994 the Adrianos started bottling and marketing their own wine. The hard work has paid off, as now 30 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of hazelnuts are cultivated sustainably. Marco works long hours in the vineyards and sometimes even brings along a truffle or two from his tours. Vittorio, on the other hand, takes care of the ageing of the wines, which mature in the imposing brick cellar in large wooden barrels made of French and Slavonian oak. The Adrianos are absolute Barbaresco specialists, but also make very harmonious Barberas that are worth every cent.
