Let's be honest: Decaffeinated coffee didn't have a good reputation until a few years ago. Bland, lax, and anything but full-bodied. All these adjectives don't go for De Cana from Dortmund-based coffee roaster 'Neues Schwarz'. This coffee from Colombia is just as good as its caffeine-containing brothers. Traditional methods of extracting caffeine from the bean are mostly inefficient, costly and, above all, consume large amounts of water and / or chemicals. However, there is a "natural" solvent (ethyl acetate) that is obtained from cane sugar and removes 97% of the caffeine from the coffee. This so-called "Sugarcane process" gives the De Cana a prominent sweetness and the full body that a decaffeinated coffee should have. Notes of candied fruit and walnut mingle with dark caramel flavors. Perfect as an 'Omniroast' and suitable for all preparation methods. A real game-changer!
