Colombian Homemade!
Traditional dishes from Colombia
with Diana Römer Duque

In this course, you will learn how to prepare typical Colombian everyday dishes in which spices such as coriander and cumin play an important role. A delicious soup that brings you back to life after long nights is just as much a part of the course as the small corn arepas that are eaten with various toppings. Come along to the kitchens of Colombia and discover new flavors, techniques, and dishes.

Menu:

  •  Caldo de Papa (clear beef and potato soup with egg, cilantro, tomatoes, and onions) Classic Colombian “breakfast soup” or “hangover soup”
  •  Arepas (corn flour flatbread made from white corn) gluten-free
  •  Guacamole
  •  Guiso
  •  Pollo desmechado (shredded chicken)
  •  Bean purée
  •  Pico de Gallo (salsa made from tomatoes, spring onions, and fresh cilantro)
  •  Cheese
  •  Pastel de Maíz (coconut corn cake made from yellow corn) gluten-free

Diana Römer Duque

Diana was born in Bogotá, Colombia, to a Colombian mother and a German father. Good food always played an important role in her childhood. She came to Berlin as a teenager in the early 1990s. The recipes of her Colombian grandmother and great-aunts, as well as the great hospitality of Colombia, have always remained in her heart. For many years, Diana ran the Colombina café in Prenzlauer Berg, cooking traditional dishes and bringing Colombian food culture to Berlin, much to the delight of Berliners and Latin American regulars alike. Through her experience in the café, she has recognized how Colombian cuisine can enrich the German palate and knows exactly where the magic of Colombian home cooking lies. For several years, Diana has been catering various film and photo productions, mainly with vegan dishes. Diana works as a restaurateur and freelance visual artist in Berlin.
