2019 Meier vom Lösslehm Grauburgunder trocken Pfalz
This wine is a typical one by Georg Meier. The Pinot Gris from Lösslehm is pleasantly round, aromatic and juicy. Then the terroir comes through nicely and the wine becomes stronger and more spicy while keeping its freshness. Pear, yellow plum, garden herbs, and very subtle mineral. Relaxed acidity and full texture. Goes particularly well with hot and spicy dishes like chili con / sin carne or BBQ. A party wine on a very decent level.
As a cellar master, Georg Meier and his parents run the Meier winery in Weyer in the southern Palatinate. The Meiers are proven Riesling specialists and produce a whole range of terroir-shaped wines from their impressive variety of locations. But they'll make a lot more than that: There are great crémants, juicy Silvaner, nice Burgundies and also very neat red wines. All wines are characterized by being firm, cool and refreshing, while having sufficient body at the same time. The Meier's wines are straightforward with no frills, have traction, but are not lightweight. Typical Southern Palatinate.
