Merayo - Mencía Joven
The Merayos exclusively cultivate the grape varieties for which their region Bierzo, far too unknown in this country, stands: Godello and above all Mencia. Bierzo is located in the northwest of Spain, just in Castile-Léon, but already borders on Galicia. Mencia is considered slightly as Spain's answer to Pinot Noir and indeed one can make very elegant and polished wines from it, far away from any cliché. This already works with the basic wine, the simple Mencia from the stainless steel tank, so well that it can be described as a rather perfect everyday wine.
And how does it taste?
Fruity and uncomplicated, cherry, dark berries, mild acidity.
