2018 Felline Alberello Salento Rosso Puglia
What's that?
Apulia's wines can be marmalade fruit bombs with lots of alcohol and even some residual sugar. Not so with the Perrucci brothers, who have created a remarkable counter-model with Felline. Here many smaller winegrowers are united under Felline's hat, who would otherwise produce too small a quantity to be independent. The Perrucci brothers rely on strong yield reduction and exclusively native grape varieties. This is the case with the Alberello Salento Rosso, which consists of equal parts of Negroamaro and Primitivo.
And how does it taste?
The Alberello does not deny its origin. It smells of ripe fruit, plum, blackberry, some violet. Due to its pleasant acidity, it is full and velvety, but never too heavy.
