2017 Claus Preisinger Heideboden rot Burgenland
Heideboden is a location on the east bank of Lake Neusiedl. At Claus Preisinger, the Heideboden red is a cuvée made from Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, and Merlot and it is a rather full and very balanced wine. Ripe cherry, blackberry, red plum, with nice spicy notes such as pepper and a little clove. Despite the ripe fruit, it has enough freshness and is elegant and versatile when it comes to eating. Aged for ten months in a small wooden barrel and bottled unfiltered.
Claus Preisinger's wines from Gols in Burgenland have been with us for a long time and inspire us year after year. Within a few years, Claus has developed a very independent style among Austrian winegrowers. Near the shores of Lake Neusiedl, he relies on biodynamic work methods with a lot of manual labour in the vineyard and well-considered relaxation in the cellar. He dispenses with cultivated yeasts, enzymes, and additives, and his wines are not filtered and hardly any of them are sulfurized. This also made his wines more clear, puristic, and exciting over the years. Claus now mainly relies on regional grape varieties, such as Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch, or Grüner Veltliner.
