Gilvesy Cuvée St. George Badacsony 2022
A distinctive cuvée of organic Furmint, Riesling, and Welschriesling. Enticing aromas of ripe peach, marzipan, and buttery brioche on the nose. On the palate, savoury stone fruit and roasted macadamia unfold over a mineral-rich texture, finishing silky and resinous. Hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented in concrete eggs, and matured in stainless steel, FlexCubes, and seasoned Hungarian oak. A wine created as a tribute to the mountain and the hard work behind it – down-to-earth and authentic. Best enjoyed with moules-frites or a good novel by the fireplace.
Gilvesy Winery is located on Szent György Hill at Lake Balaton’s northern shore and was founded in 2012 by Canadian-born winemaker Robert Gilvesy of Hungarian heritage. Since 2014, the vineyards have been organically farmed, thriving on volcanic basalt and tuff soils. Using low-intervention methods such as spontaneous fermentation and minimal sulfur, the estate produces elegant, mineral-driven wines that clearly express their terroir.
