2019 Oudin Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupins Bourgogne
The Premier Cru Vaucoupin is situated on the right side of the Serein. The vineyard faces south where the vines ripen reliably. The deep soil is strongly influenced by the Kimmeridge limestone, which is of particular benefit to the old Oudins vineyards. Powerful, slightly smoky, very mineral and cool. But also quite juicy. Some ripe stone fruit in the nose, then again the typical shell limestone. Salt lemon, white flowers. Matured in steel tanks so as not to hide the terroir. Has a lot of potential for development and benefits greatly from large glasses. Goes very well with lightly smoked ham, sashimi or strong goat's cheese.
The French sisters Nathalie and Isabelle from the small family vineyard Oudin produce crystal clear terroir Chablis from the typical shell limestone. They work biodynamically and with very low yields to give their wines more expression. Also, they allow their wines plenty of time, which you can definitely taste.
