2019 Château Tour des Gendres Pétillant Naturel Bergerac
Pétillant Naturels are 'natural foaming agents'. With this ancient method, the base wine is fermented in a bottle where it produces carbon dioxide. Two-thirds of the wine is left for fermentation on the mash in the steel tank. This is followed by another period of fermentation in the bottle, resulting in fantastically dry wine! Fresh, light, crisp and with pleasant tannins, this Pétillant Naturel is a real joy! Citrus, yellow apple, some yeast on the nose. Slightly grassy, jasmine. First-class aperitif, but with its full texture also an exciting companion to many dishes. We love this sparkling wine!
Luc de Conti and his Château Tour des Gendres have long been among the organic pioneers in south-west France. Since the mid-nineties, they have been working in Bergerac according to ecological principles, now even biodynamic ones. The region is known for powerful red wines, which are often a little more accessible than their counterparts from the neighbouring Bordelais. But Luc also has a special knack for the white grape varieties. His white wines and his Pet Nat are style-defining for the entire appellation. Tour des Gendres stands for very harmonious wines with a clear terroir expression, which nevertheless remain absolutely affordable.
