2014 Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Terre de Vertus 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature Champagne
Larmandier-Bernier's Terre de Vertus is champagne to the extreme - vintage champagne from individual vineyard plots in Vertus. The "Les Barillers" site is very special to the Larmandiers. Influenced by limestone, it's so well situated that they have been ageing the Chardonnay individually for years. The Terre de Vertus matures on the lees for at least five years. The result is electrifying. The Terre de Vertus has confident edges, but they are finely drawn and focused. Aromas of green and yellow apples, lemon peel, pear and fresh brioche. In the mouth uncompromisingly dry with lots of draught and clarity. A champagne that doesn't want to please everyone, but which clearly says who it is. And that's fabulous!
