2008 Paul Bara Comtesse Marie de France Champagne Brut Millesimé Champagne
The Comtesse Marie de France was created by Paul Bara in the 1960s for a Parisian restaurant. The restaurant no longer exists, but the Comtesse Marie de France fortunately does. This vintage champagne is only pressed in the very best years from 100% Pinot Noir. After stunning nine years of yeast storage, it is left to rest for another one or two years before it is sold. In the nose a fascinating play of aromas of tropical fruit, honey and nougat. In the mouth, the sensational impression continues, almost umami. Comtesse Marie de France, that's insanely great champagne, where velvety freshness and spicy depth harmoniously complement each other.
