Artuke - Pies Negros tinto
What's that?
Also again a real family business. Artuke stands for the first names of the two winegrower sons Arturo and Kike, who have taken over the helm a few years ago. The two stand for a wine style that is both modern and respects the traditions of the Rioja region. There is never too much wood, the fruit never goes into jam. Their wines are full of excitement and the unique terroir of their high vineyards is clearly recognizable. The local wine Pies Negros comes from vineyards around the village of Abalos in the Rioja Alavesa. The wine gets its name from the fact that Artuto and Kike do without a modern wine press and the grapes are mashed with the feet in a traditional way. The 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano mature then 14 months in French and American wooden barrels.
And how does it taste?
The power and finesse of Pies Negros. Juicy, spicy with great berry aromas. Black cherry, blackberry and dried thyme. Makes you want more immediately.
